Automatically Place Fields on Your Documents

Use anchor texts so SignedX automatically positions fields on your documents and templates.

Overview

Field Auto Placement allows SignedX to automatically place fields onto documents using anchor texts. This feature reduces manual preparation and ensures consistent field placement across envelopes and templates.

Anchor texts are placeholder texts inserted into documents that signal where fields should be positioned. For instance, {{signature}} tells the system to place a signature field at that location.

Tip

Change the font colour of your anchor texts to white so they are not visible on the final document.

How Field Auto Placement works

The system searches documents for matching anchor texts. Common examples include:

  • {{signature}}
  • {{date}}
  • {{name}}

When configuring a field, you link it to an anchor text. SignedX then automatically positions the field wherever that anchor text appears.

Using Field Auto Placement in templates

Create your document

Add anchor texts to your document at the desired field locations:

  • {{signature}}
  • {{date}}
  • {{name}}

Save and upload the document to SignedX as a template.

Configure field placement

Navigate to Templates.
Click Create.
Upload your document.
Add recipient roles.
Click Prepare documents.

To configure each field:

Drag the matching field onto the document.
Select the field.
Click Placement.
Click Configure Placement.
Enter the anchor text exactly as it appears in the document.
Click Confirm.

Repeat for additional fields, then click Save changes.

Supporting multiple recipients

Field Auto Placement also supports multiple recipients. Use unique anchor texts for each:

  • {{signature1}}
  • {{signature2}}

This ensures the correct fields are placed for each recipient automatically.
