Document Fields
An overview of the field types you can place on documents in SignedX and how to configure each one.
SignedX offers multiple field types for document preparation. Fields are placed by selecting a recipient from the dropdown, then dragging and dropping fields onto the document.
Available field types
Signature Recipients adopt their signature through one of three methods: selecting a pre-made signature based on their name, drawing their signature, or uploading an image. The signature is then automatically applied to remaining signature fields in the envelope.
Initials Similar to signature fields, initials are automatically generated based on the recipient's name, with options for the recipient to draw their own or upload an image.
Date Signed This field automatically populates with the current date when the recipient completes the envelope and cannot be edited by recipients.
Auto-populated recipient data Three fields automatically populate based on envelope creation information:
- Name (recipient's full name)
- Email (recipient's email address)
- Mobile (recipient's phone number, or manual entry if not provided)
Text Free-form text entry fields that support pre-population with default content and validation for specific formats like BSB numbers or account numbers.
Strikethrough A line placed over document sections, with customisable colour options useful for crossing out inapplicable content.
Checkboxes Individual or grouped checkboxes with optional validation rules. If you have multiple checkboxes that relate to the same question (for example, selecting option A, B, or C), you can group them together.
Dropdowns Present a list of options for recipients to select from, with optional required field designation and formatting customisation.
Witness Allows witness signatures without adding witnesses as separate recipients. The witness is expected to be physically present with the recipient at the time of signing.
Attachment Recipients can upload multiple files such as certificates, documents, or photos. Mobile users can photograph documents directly.
Field configuration options
Common customisation settings include:
- Required — completion mandatory
- Read only — no recipient editing
- Collaborative — visible to all envelope recipients
- Text — default pre-populated content
- Field Id — internal identifier
- Tooltip — hover instructions
Text formatting
Available formatting controls include font selection, size, colour, bold, italic, and underline options, applicable to auto-populated fields as well.
