Overview
The witness field ensures physical presence during signing. Rather than adding the witness as a separate recipient (who might sign from elsewhere), the witness signs directly on the signer's device without receiving separate communications.
How it works
Add the field. During document preparation, drag a Witness field onto your document. You may pre-fill witness contact details or let them enter information during signing.
Recipient receives envelope. The signer gets the envelope normally and is prompted to hand their device to the witness when reaching this field.
Witness completes signature. The witness enters their name and email address, then signs directly on the recipient's device.
Details recorded. Upon completion, witness information appears in the certificate of completion and audit log.
No emails or communications reach the witness at any stage of the process.
